This is one of the things I love about muffins – the perfect combination of a sweet and savory muffin. When you add brown sugar to sweeten up your muffin, you make it taste and look like a bowl of goodness (well, almost). I love the way this muffin looks and it also adds to its deliciousness because the cinnamon in the brown sugar doesn’t overpower the natural sweetness of the fruit.
My muffins are always on the lighter side, so I’m always a little disappointed when I find a brown sugar muffin that has the brown sugar overpowering the sweet fruit. But I know that muffins, like all foods, are meant to pair well with other goodies. And brown sugar muffins are perfect for that.
Okay, so brown sugar muffins are definitely the kind of muffin that the sweetest of sweet things should go head to head with. But it’s definitely also the kind of muffin that the most of the sweet things should go head to head with.
Basically, muffins are a great way to use up those last of those last few bits of fruit that are still left over from your last meal. They can also be used as a great “cheat” to give you a little extra sweet kick at the end of a day.
