A few years ago, I was listening to a podcast hosted by a friend of mine. The host (a woman) and her guest (a man) talked about their most recent trip overseas and how their experiences had changed their daily lives. The man in the podcast said, “I get so nervous when I get out of the airport. I’ve never been to an airport this big.

I know, I get that too. I’ve been there too many times, I think. But the way the man said it was almost like he was talking about the anxiety and stress of leaving your house behind you and trying to find your way back. That can be daunting. My friend said to him, I’ve done it once before. It was a long time ago, and I feel so nervous going back. I’m nervous. I feel so much stress.

I don’t know about you, but when I leave my house, it feels like my entire world has collapsed. I feel so overwhelmed and nervous. I’m always so worried that my house is going to catch fire, I should call the fire department (because I have no idea what I’m doing there), but then I think, that’s kind of stupid. I feel so nervous, I can’t take a single step.

I also feel like my house is going to catch fire, because that probably means that I need to get my house fixed. I get that. I also get that.

You’re not alone, Kel. You’re not the only one, and many of us don’t even realize we’re living in a time loop. It’s not just the obvious things like fire and firefighting, it’s how we live our lives, our choices. But here’s what makes it so hard to get rid of that feeling of constant nervousness.

Theres a great analogy to help explain how even when we’re asleep, our minds are still playing an active role. We are so in tune to what is happening around us that we can’t shake out of our brains the thoughts we think and the things we think about. Its a phenomenon called “mind wandering.” This is where we can’t stop thinking about some future thing that is happening in the present.

This is one of the ways that we can learn about ourselves and our lives. We can literally learn to stop thinking and just let our minds wander. This is a process called meditation, and it helps us to realize that it really is all the same to us.

The brain is a really cool little machine. It constantly thinks about what’s going to happen in the future. The more we know about the world the more we can control the details of our lives, and the more we can control the future, the better we can live in the moment.

So how do you go about cultivating the perfect mind? Meditation is one way, and the best results come from practicing it more than once per day. The best kind of meditation is the one that you learn in your own brain. But you can do anything. I learned to meditate through the YouTube channel of a guy named Dan Johnston. I don’t think he even knows how to meditate, but I watched him meditate on the streets of Denver.
