I love the idea of walking me down drink. To me it sounds like a simple yet effective strategy for helping your mind get rid of the negative thoughts that may cause you to feel anxious, angry, or negative emotions.

I’m not sure if most people understand that walking yourself down a drink is not the same as thinking about it. It’s not a thoughtless act of getting something to eat or having to get out of this place. It’s more like you’re coming out the other side of something, taking a step back and taking stock of what you have been doing. That’s what a good walk down a drink is.
Walking down a drink is like being in a room full of people and having them all go out to the bar. You can’t go back to being just a person sitting on a bar stool. You have to make a conscious decision to try and move on in a new direction, to take a step back and think, “okay, okay, what is the important thing I’m going to do next?”.
One of the ways that a person can take a step back is to drink. To actually drink. The act of actually drinking is a deliberate choice that a person makes. We all do it every single day. It might not be as a result of a choice, but a good example of how we can take a step back is to eat.

We all are aware of how we eat, but there is a conscious decision made to eat a different type of food. There is also a conscious decision made to exercise some of the things that we’ve been told to exercise for a very long time. It’s just that a person has to make a conscious decision to exercise those things.
