The phrase “work animal” is one of those words that can go both ways. To some, the work animal is a means of earning a living. To others, the work animal is a person who enjoys working, making, and learning. I am in that latter category. I enjoy working out, doing physical labor, and working with my hands. I’ve found that I do not like physical labor with any regularity.
I think the best way to put it is that I like working out (at the gym, the pool, on the bike, in the pool), but when I do it, it is a very solitary activity. However, because I work out, I also make sure to socialize with friends and family. I like to see how much I can get done without having to push myself.
Ive learned from my parents to not get attached to any one activity but rather to try and combine multiple activities into a single endeavor. One of the biggest mistakes Ive made with my work is inattentively spending too much time in the gym. Ive tried to be a good person and stay fit, but Ive often pushed myself too hard. Ive also not been very consistent with my eating habits, and Ive even struggled with my weight for a long time.

Ive been working out for almost four years now, and it feels amazing to be working out again and be doing something I enjoy.
